Spain to hand out online poker liquidity licenses

24 Jan 2018

The Resolution of the Spanish regulator (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego – DGOJ) of December 29, 2017 (“Resolution”) was published in The Spanish Official Gazette of January 15, 2018 authorising international liquidity for online poker.

The Resolution allows operators with Spanish poker licenses to offer online poker to persons in certain other countries.  Specifically, they will be able to offer tables and tournaments in which there are players from the signatory jurisdictions of the Liquidity Sharing Agreement in online poker signed in Rome on July 6, 2017 by France, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

The Resolution establishes the conditions which said operators must observe in terms of marketing online poker with shared liquidity, and also the corresponding modifications of the current framework for technical, control issues and other areas.
