The Malta Gaming Authority issues call for interested parties to register interest and provide details on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and/or Cryptocurrency projects

The Malta Gaming Authority (“MGA”) will be creating a ‘sandboxed (test and learn) live environment’ for the use of cryptocurrencies and the application of Distributed Ledger Technology (“DLT”) by its remote gaming licensees which will be accompanied by a set of guiding principles. 

In furtherance of this project, the MGA is seeking the contribution of the sector’s stakeholders which are already experienced and knowledgeable with the use of such technologies. The MGA is in particularly interested in information on the risks associated with such technologies, in particularly; consumer protection, the prevention of crime and money launderings or funding of terrorism (within the context of the 4AMLD) and the safeguarding of the Maltese jurisdiction’s reputation.
